He had been ill for five weeks and death was caused by a complication of diseases. Throughout his entire illness, Mr. James bore his affliction with Christian fortitude, making no complaint despite his suffering. He was born in Dorsett, Dorchester, England, December 31, 1848, and came to this country early in his youth. He was married to Miss Catherine Miller, of Tyrone, a number of years ago. She survives with two daughters, Mrs. Caroline E. Counsman and Mrs. Velda Leonard, both of Altoona, and two grandchildren. He was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad company until he became ill and was forced to relinquish his duties. The deceased was a member of St. Luke’s Protestant Episcopal church, of Altoona, and of Winnegago tribe, No. 35, I. O. R. M.
