BAIRD A former Altoonan, died in the Allegheny Lutheran Home, Johnstown, at 7:45 p.m. Saturday after an extended illness. She was born in Johnstown Oct. 14, 1886, a daughter of Samuel J. and Letitia (King) Jenkins and married Charles I. Baird, who preceded her in death. Surviving are a sister and brother, Mrs. J. Q. Replogle and Howard S. of Altoona. She was a member of the Fourth Lutheran Church and Sunday School and the Ladies Auxiliary to the Blair County Game, Fish and Forestry Association. Friends will be received at the Axe Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today. Altoona Mirror, Nov. 25, 1963 _________________________________________ HOWARD S. JENKINS Of 2819 5th Ave., died at 9 a.m. yesterday, Feb. 12, 1973, in Mercy Hospital. He was born in Altoona on Oct. 3, 1891, a son of Samuel and Letitia (King) Jenkins, and was twice married, first to Mary G. Beard, who died in 1944, then to Irene Wagner Mock in January 1947. Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Porta of Altoona and Mrs. Betty Smith of San Antonio, Texas; a step-son Harry Mock, in New York; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. J. Q. Brumbaugh of Hyattsville, Md. Mr. Jenkins was a captain in the Altoona fire department for 35 years, retiring in January 1957. He was a member of Christ Second Lutheran Church. Friends will received in the Books Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. Altoona Mirror, Feb. 13, 1973 _________________________________________ JOSEPH CLYDE JENKINS Of 922 4th Ave., Juniata, died at 1:25 a.m. today in the Altoona Hospital, where he was admitted Sunday. He was born in Johnstown Feb. 12, 1889, a son of Samuel and Letitia (King) Jenkins, and married Edith Stahl. Surviving are his wife, two sisters and a brother: Mrs. Viola A Baird, Mrs. Laura L Brumbaugh and Howard S., of the city. He was a member of the Wesley Memorial Methodist Church, E. Juniata, and the B of L. F. & E., having retired as a hostler on the Middle Division in 1941 after 35 years of employment. LETITIA JENKINS Widow of Samuel Jenkins, died last night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. I. Baird of 411 Walnut Avenue. Deceased was born Jan. 1, 1864, and was the daughter of Isaac and Eva Dunmire King. She is survived by the following children: J. C. Jenkins of Juniata, H. S. Jenkins, Altoona, Mrs. C. I. Baird and Mrs. J. I. Brumbaugh of Altoona; and the following brothers and sisters, Robert of Oakmont, Thomas of Glasgow, Isaac of Indiana, Mrs. Nanny Gilbert of Johnstown, and Miss Margaret King of Altoona. She was a member of the Fourth Lutheran Church, the Missionary Society and the Eudora Lodge of Rebekahs, Funeral services will be held at the home on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 with the Rev. Quay in charge Interment will be made in Rose Hill Cemetery. Altoona Mirror, April 12, 1926 _________________________________________ SAMUEL J. JENKINS Of ? Penn Avenue died at 9:45 o'clock last night at his residence. Death resulted from a stroke after becoming ill on Friday evening at his work, in the Juniata machine shops. he had been employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad for the past thirty-five years. Deceased was born in McVeytown, Mifflin County, Sept 18, 1860. He was united in marriage to Miss Letitia King in 1885 at Johnstown, and the year following removed to this city and had been a resident ever since. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. C. I. Baird, Mrs. J. Q. Brumbaugh and Howard S., all of this city, and J. C. of Juniata. The following brothers also survive: Benjamin, John, and Edward, all of Johnstown. He was a member of Washington Camp No. 638, P. O. S. of A., Loyal Order of Moose No. 74, and the Pennsylvania Railroad Relief and Floral Association. The funeral services will be conducted from the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. I. Baird of 411 Walnut Avenue on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Paul W.
