Johnston of 2602 Maple avenue, died at her home at 10.45 o'clock last night after an extended illness. She was born March 19, 1879, at Artemas, Bedford county, the daughter of Abram and Barbara (Cavender) Smith. Surviving are her husband and the following children: Mrs. Marguerite Clark of Pontiac, Mich., Elmer Johnson of Quaker Hill, Conn., R. W. and Gerald Johnson of Altoona; two brothers, Joseph and David Smith, both of Bedford county; 11 grandchildren and one great- grandchild. She was a member of the First Baptist church, the Missionary society of the church, and the Daughters of America. Dr. E. D. Simpson and Rev. Randall Rossman. Interment in the Carson Valley cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home after 7 o'clock this evening.
