CLARA MARY (KAUFFMAN) FURRY Of Sinking Valley died at her home at 7.40 o'clock this morning after a short illness. She was born on Feb. 14, 1891, in Altoona, the daughter of John and Katherine (Shoup) Kauffman, both deceased. Surviving are the husband, Howard S. Furry, and the following children: Mrs. Wilma Brubaker and Carl Furry, both of Sinking Valley; Howard, Jr., and Dale Furry, both at home. Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Elmer Smith of Albion, Mich., Dallas Kauffman and Mrs. George R. Marks of State College, Mrs. Amy Marks of Juniata and Bruce Kauffman of Martinsburg. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren at Hollidaysburg. Interment at Woodbury. KAUFMAN Mr. Kaufman, 79, of Box 201, Duncansville RD 1, died at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 1985, in his home, after an extended illness. Mr. Kaufman retired as a blacksmith from the Penn Central in 1971, after 44 years service. He was born May 13, 1906, in Duncansville, the son of David W. and Anna M. (Plowman) Kaufman, and Dec. 31, 1928, in Cross Keys, married Elvaline Brubaker, who died Feb. 10, 1981. Surviving are four children: Shirley Zeek, Mearle, Kenneth and Mary Jane of Duncansville; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers: Bernard of Mansfield, Ohio, and Arthur of Louisville, Ky. Mr. Kaufman was a member of Carson Valley Church of the Brethren, Men's Bible class and Allegheny Township Senior Citizens. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Donald E. Liebegott Funeral Home, Duncansville, and noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Carson Valley Church of the Brethren. Services by Rev. Carmon Sollenberger. Interment in Carson Valley Cemetery. Altoona Mirror, September 23, 1985 _________________________________________ DAVID W. KAUFMAN Called By Death Oldest Deacon of Carson Valley Church Expires David W. Kaufman, 79, died at 2.25 0'clock this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Rose Blough of Cross Keys, after and extended illness. He was born in Chambersburg Aug. 22, 1877, a son of Abraham and Catherine (Wineman) Kaufman, and married Anna Plowman, who died Feb. 8, 1952. Mr. Kaufman was the oldest deacon of the Carson Valley Church of the Brethren where he was also a member of the Men's Bible class. He was a retired carpenter by trade. Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Blough; six sons, David, Jr., of Cross Keys, George and Bernard of Ohio, Milton of Altoona, Dean of Harrisburg and Arthur of Williamsburg, Va.; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Blough home, Cross Keys, after 7 o'clock this evening. Altoona Mirror, June 10, 1957 _________________________________________ JAMES PAUL KAUFMAN A member of the sophomore class in the Hollidaysburg High school and a son of David and Alvaline Kaufman of Duncansville, R. D. No. 1, Carson valley, died Sunday morning at 8 o'clock in the Altoona hospital. He was born in Altoona on Oct. 16, 1928, and after going to Carson valley with the parents attended the Cross Keys Schools and then entered the Hollidaysburg High school. Surviving are the parents and two brothers and two sisters, Shirley, Jane, Mearle, and Kenneth, all at home, and his paternal grandparents, David W. and Annie Kaufman of Carson Valley. He was a member of the Carson Valley Church of the Brethren and Sunday school. Friends are being received at the home. Services at the Carson Valley Church of the Brethren in charge of Rev.
