Keith, a respected citizen of Logan township, died at his home, Harrison avenue and Sheridan street, East End, Altoona, at 8.06 o'clock Tuesday morning, of pneumonia, after an illness of two weeks. Deceased was the son of John and Helen Keith, deceased, and was born in Sinking Valley on May 7, 1846. He was reared on the farm of his parents and on reaching manhood went west and for two years was located in Henry county, Mo. He then returned east, took up his residence in Altoona and entered the service of the Pennsylvania Railroad company as a car builder, an occupation he followed for a period of twenty-five years. For the past fifteen years he had practically lived a retired life and through civic pride acted as caretaker of the East End Fire company's hall during the past year. He was a member of the Lutheran church and in the community in which he lived and by a wide circle of friends he was highly esteemed and respected. He is survived by his wife and the following children: J. H. Keith and Mrs. H. E. Houck, of East End, Altoona; Mrs. D. C. Imler, of South Altoona, and E. M. Keith, of Sinking Valley. He is also survived by one brother and three sisters: Andrew Keith, Mrs. Jennie Haberacker, Mrs. Samuel Orr and Mrs. Haddie Orr, all of Altoona, and by fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will take place from his late home on Thursday afternoon. Services to be conducted at the house at 2 o'clock. Interment in Greenwood cemetery. The Tyrone Herald, Tuesday, March 12, 1912
