Keller, 71, of Turkey Valley, Hollidaysburg, RD 2, veteran of both World Wars and retired foreman of the Altoona Works steel shop, died at 4:45 p.m. yesterday in Altoona Hospital, where he was admitted Jan. 4, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Duncansville on June 7, 1897, a son of Samuel A. and Maude (Wertz) Keller and was twice married, first to Florence J. Stiffler, who died Dec. 9, 1954, and Sept. 15, 1956, to Inez Saylor in Zion Lutheran Church, Hollidaysburg. Surviving are his wife, who was admitted yesterday to Altoona Hospital suffering from a heart ailment; a daughter, Mrs. Polly Liebegott of Duncansville; a step-daughter, Mrs. Shirley Dietze of Altoona; four grandchildren, and a brother Samuel W. of Altoona. Mr. Keller was a member of Fort Fetter Post, American Legion, and a member and past commander of the Duncansville VFW Post. He was a veteran of Army service and retired in 1946 with the rank of major from a railway battalion. He retired in 1962 from the Pennsylvania Railroad Co. and more recently had been employed at the Samuel Rea shops, Hollidaysburg, as an inspector for Hunt Associates. Friends will be received in the Liebegott Funeral Home, Duncansville, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.
