All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ WRECK FATAL TO CITY MAN Injuries suffered in a collision of automobiles early Thursday morning on Route 22, a mile east of Mount Union, resulted in the death of Samuel W. Keller, 63, of 2809 Columbia Drive, in Altoona Hospital at 11:15 p.m. yesterday, July 24, 1970. Death resulted from a blood clot suffered in severe head injuries, a fractured skull, in the accident, deputy Coroner William T. Crawford reported. Mr. Keller was first removed to J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, then transferred to Altoona Hospital late Thursday morning. His condition was regarded as critical from the time of his admission and he was in the special care section of the hospital. Two others injured in the accident were treated in the Huntingdon hospital. Stewart Miller, 69, of 820 26th St., a passenger in the Keller car, is reported in satisfactory condition despite multiple fractures of the leg, hip and pelvis, while Mrs. Valerie Booher, 28, of Mount Union RD, operator of the other car, was treated at the hospital and released. Mr. Keller was en route to Lewistown at the time of the accident and, in braking to avoid a car turning off the highway ahead, his coupe skidded across and collided head-on with the Booher Mustang. Mr. Keller was born in Duncansville Jan. 23, 1902, a son of Samuel A. and Maude (Wertz) Keller, and Nov 29, 1928, in the Duncansville Lutheran Church was united in marriage with Dorothy V. Mason of Jamestown, N.Y., by the Rev. G. B Harmon. Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. JoAnne David of Rockville, Md., and Mrs. Dottye Lu King of Murrysville, and four grandchildren. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, of Logan Lodge, F & A M, Harrisburg Consistory and Jaffa Shrine, and Heidelberg Country Club. Mr. Keller was the founder and proprietor of Keller Motor Sales, truck agency at Beale Avenue and Twenty-fifth Street. Friends will be received in the Liebegott Funeral Home, Duncansville, from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.
