On Friday night James Kelly, Hollidaysburg's oldest citizen, died, aged 104 years. Mr. Kelly was in early life a slave in Virginia and always maintained that he was raised at Mount Vernon and owned by George Washington. Any person who has seen the venerable man would have no doubt but that he was at least a centenarian. Our oldest citizens remember him for many years and say he was "Old Doctor Kelly" fifty years ago. When asked recently how he managed to prolong life he replied, "The Lord kept me to make good medicine to cure the sick." He was buried yesterday at 2 o'clock.
