His wife, who was visiting her sister-in-law, Mrs. M. W. Gilmartin, at 1217 Seventh avenue, received the sad news about noon. The deceased was the son of Patrick and Annie Kelly, and was born at Canoe Creek fifty-two years ago. Twenty-two years ago he conducted the Second Ward hotel, but sold out and went west, where he has resided ever since. Besides his wife, he is survived by these children: James, Annie, Martha and Gertrude; also by these brothers and sisters: Bernard Kelly, Bridget Kelly and Mrs. M. W. Gilmartin, all of this city. Mrs. Kelly, accompanied by Bernard and Bridget Kelly, and her niece, Nellie Hickman, left yesterday on Pittsburg express for Leavenworth. Altoona Mirror, Tuesday, September 19, 1899, page 8
