Kelly, former assessor, and a well known resident of the Fifth ward, died at his home, 1200 Seventeenth street, at 11.50 o'clock yesterday morning of Bright's disease, after a brief illness. Although in ill health for three months, he was not bedfast. He was born in Blairville, Sept. 4, 1856 and for forty-two years he was a resident of this city. He entered the coal business, from which he retired twelve years ago. He was a member of St. John's Pro-Cathedral, and was one of the best known men in the city. He married Miss Jianna Henly, of this city, in 1876. Besides his wife, he is survived by seven children, as follows: Mrs. John E. Laughlin, Leo J., Pittsburgh; Mrs. M. A. Dietrick, Martha Winnifred, Folson, of this city; Sergeant William F. and Private John E., both in France. One brother, Joseph E. Kelly and one sister, Mrs. Vincent Weisel, both of this city also survive. Funeral services will be held in St. John's Pro-Cathedral at 9 o'clock Monday morning, and burial will be made in Calvary cemetery. Altoona Times, Altoona, Pa., Saturday Morning, December 21, 1918
