[sic] Kennedy, of 411 Lexington avenue, died at 1.30 Saturday afternoon after a lingering illness of almost a year. He was a son of William and Mary A. Kennedy and was born at Rockdale Foundry, near Williamsburg, this county, July 9, 1851. He went west in the year 1867, where he learned the printing trade and returned east in 1878, locating in this city, engaging in the grocery business at the corner of Chestnut avenue and Fourth street, continuing in the same up to the time of his sickness. He was an active and consistent member of the First Methodist Episcopal church, being one of its board of stewards for a number of years. He was also a member of Verandah lodge No. 532, Independent Order Odd Fellows; Alto lodge No. 205, Knights of Pythias, and Altoona conclave No. 132, Improved Order Heptasophs.
