James Arthur Kennedy of Tyrone, one of the drafted men from the second county district sent to the army training camp at Camp Lee, Petersburg, Va., died as the result of a complete nervous breakdown at the Blair county hospital at 11.30 o'clock Sunday night. Private Kennedy, before being drafted into the army, had not been in the best of health, but was accepted by the Tyrone draft board physicians. He took an appeal on physical grounds to the medical advisory board, but was also passed by them and was sent to Camp Lee on April 3. He was only at camp a short time until he was taken sick and then suffered a complete nervous breakdown. His father, James A. Kennedy was aged 27 and was born near Huntingdon. He had resided in Tyrone for twenty years and was a graduate of the Tyrone High school, also having attended Zeth Business college in this city. Before being sent to Camp Lee he was employed as a stenographer by Superintendent Patton at the Huntingdon reformatory. He was a member of the First Presbyterian church and the New Century club of Tyrone. He is survived by his parents and two brothers, William and Robert at home.
