KEPHART Miss Faye F. Kephart, 87, Sinking Valley, Tyrone RD 1, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 1989 at 7:55 a.m. at the Tyrone Hospital following a brief illness. She was born June 23, 1901 at Tyrone, the daughter of William T. and Oliver R. Fleck Kephart. She was the last of her immediate family and is survived by several cousins. She was preceded in death by one brother. She was a member of the Arch Spring Presbyterian Church, the Harnish Mission Circle, the Tyrone Hospital Auxiliary and the Sinking Valley Grange. She had retired after farming the Kephart family farm for a number of years. Funeral service will be held Friday, at 10:30 a.m. at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home with the Rev. Samuel T. Lewis III and the Rev. Barry Vance officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Altoona Mirror, January 19, 1989 _________________________________________ OLIVE (FLECK) KEPHART Woman, 100 Years Old, Died Olive R. Kephart, 100, formerly of Sinking Valley, and a guest at Epworth Manor, Tyrone, since June, died at 6:15 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, 1980, in the manor, after a brief illness. Mrs. Kephart, known as Aunt Doll, was born Oct 30, 1879, in Sinking Valley, the daughter of Aaron and Mary Ellen [Plummer] Fleck, and March 7, 1900, in Sinking Valley, married William T. Kephart, who died Oct. 21, 1945. Surviving is a daughter, Faye F. of Sinking Valley. Mrs. Kephart was the oldest member of the Arch Spring Presbyterian Church and a member of the Missionary Society and Tyrone Hospital Auxiliary. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Getz & Searer Funeral Home, Tyrone. Services for Olive R. Kephart, formerly of Sinking Valley, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Getz & Searer Funeral Home, Tyrone, by the Rev. Samuel T. Lewis III. Interment in Grandview Cemetery, Tyrone. Altoona Mirror, August 11, 1980 _________________________________________ AN EXEMPLARY BOY, William Clay Kephart Dead in Sinking Valley. William Clay Kephart, only son of William T. and Olive R. Kephart, died at their home in Sinking Valley at 3:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon. The boy had been ill only three weeks, diabetes being the cause of his demise. This passing of a beloved only son is a great blow to the parents. The boy was a general favorite in the valley and he was a real help and joy to the family. He is survived by his parents and one sister, Fay. Born November 23, 1905, he was in his sixteenth year. He was born at Centre Line, but since he was six months old the family had resided in Sinking Valley. He was member of the Arch Spring Presbyterian church with which he united in early boyhood. Funeral services at the home of the bereaved parents in Sinking Valley, will be conducted by his pastor, Re. W. K. Harnish at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon. Interment will be made in [Arch Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery]. clipping; September 14, 1921 _________________________________________ WILLIAM R. KEPHART William R. Kephart, for over 35 years a prominent Sinking Valley farmer, died at his home last evening at 8:50 o'clock, following an extended illness from complications. He was born July 15, 1873, at Arch Springs, the son of Henry C. and Eliza [Bodley] Kephart. On March 7, 1900, at the Fleck homestead in Sinking Valley, he was united in marriage with Olive R. Fleck. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Miss Faye Kephart, at home; a brother Harry C. Kephart, Sinking Valley. A son, Clay, is deceased. Mr. Kephart was a member of St Johns Lutheran Church of Sinking Valley. He was a charter member of Allegheny Gateway Lodge of Odd Fellows No. 187, a charter member and faithful worker in the Tyrone Townsend Club. Mr. Kephart followed the business of farming for over 35 years in Sinking Valley, having retired about three years ago. Funeral services will be held at the home on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, and interment will be made in Grandview cemetery.
