Kerns of 331 East Walton avenue, died at 1.50 o'clock this morning at the Altoona hospital where she was admitted July 20. She was born in Williamsburg Feb. 25, 1870, a daughter of Samuel and Ellen (Walls) Shaffer. Surviving are her husband, two daughters and one son, Mrs. Edna Grassmyer of the city, Roy S. of Chicago and Milton Baker of Fort Worth, Tex.; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two brothers and one sister, C. G. Shaffer of Duncansville, R. A. of Hollidaysburg and Mrs. Fred Lockard of the city. Mrs. Kerns was a member of Bethany Lutheran church, the Keystone Bible class and the Rajahmundry Missionary society. Friends will be received at the Laughlin funeral home until 11 o'clock Thursday morning and thereafter at Bethany Lutheran church. KERNS - Funeral services for Mrs. Nettie Edith Kerns of 331 East Walton avenue will be held at 2.30 o'clock Thursday afternoon in the Bethany Lutheran church by Rev. George Bowers and Rev. John D. Gebhart (?). Interment in Rose Hill cemetery. Friends will be received at the Laughlin funeral home until 11 o'clock Thursday morning at thereafter at the Bethany Lutheran church.
