Kienzle, a former Tyrone resident and community leader, died Nov. 10, 2004 in Mobile, AL. The widow of Paul M. Kienzle, former general manager and part owner of the Tyrone Herald, Mrs. Kienzle was 104 years of age. A lifelong member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, she taught a Sunday School Class for many years before moving to Mobile in 1989. Her community service included leadership roles in the Tyrone Service League and the Pennsylvania Federation of Women's Clubs. She volunteered at the local American Red Cross during World War II and was a member of the ration board. During the 1940s and 1950s, Mrs. Kienzle owned and operated Kay's Baby Shop on Pennsylvania Avenue. She is survived by three children, Connie Greene of Birmingham, AL, Janice Staley of Mobile, AL and Paul M. Kienzle, Jr. of Western Springs, IL; three grandchildren, Valerie Stoup, Paul and John Kienzle; four great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. A grandchild, Lora Staley Oliver, preceded her in death. Burial arrangements are being handled by the Searer Funeral Home of Tyrone. A memorial service to be held in Tyrone will be announced.
