At his home, 2928 West Pine avenue, yesterday evening, Mr. Philip Kimmel died of inflammation of the bowels. He had not been in good health for some days. Mr. Kimmel was the son of Philip and Caroline Kimmel, both of whom are deceased, and was born in Baltimore, Md., September 14, 1852. When nine months old he was brought to Altoona by his parents and had resided here ever since. He was a tinner by occupation and carried on a business at 609 Fourteenth street. He was a member of common council during the terms of 1887-8 and 1892-3. He was a man who had many friends and the news of his death will be read with regret. Twenty-six years ago he was married to Miss Lena Miller, of Aetna, Allegheny county. His wife survives him as do these children: Philip, Edward, Nellie, William, John, Clementine, Victor and Margaret. He also leaves these brothers and sisters: Joseph, John, Laurence, William J., Mrs. Mary Soller and Miss Tillie, of Altoona, and Michael, of Carnegie. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church, where the funeral will take place next Monday morning. Solemn mass will be celebrated at 9 o'clock. The interment will be made in St. Mary's cemetery. The remains of the late Philip Kimmel have been removed from his late home, 2925 West Pine avenue, to the old homestead, on Fifth avenue. This morning they will be conveyed to St. Mary's German Catholic church, where at 9 o'clock solemn high mass of requiem will be celebrated.
