King of 2209 Fourth avenue and for a number of years in charge of the Blair county detention home, died at 7.15 o'clock last evening at her home after being seriously ill for the past three weeks. Mrs. King took charge of the detention home in 1916 and served until 1930 when she was forced to relinquish the work because of ill health. Of Mrs. King, Miss Mary G. Davis, county juvenile probation officer, has written: "Her influence for good was most marked and the fact that the girls and boys kept visiting her for years after settlement of their difficulties shows the respect and esteem in which she was held by them. Undoubtedly Mrs. King's broken health was in a measure due to the strain of the work." Mrs. King was born in Spring Hope, Bedford county, a daughter of Chauncey and Emily (Gordon) Keller. Surviving are her husband, one son, Howard C., at home, and one brother, J. E. Keller of Windber. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist church. Friends may call at the Lafferty funeral home after noon Friday. KING - Brief funeral services for Mrs. Annie Alice King, 2209 Fourth avenue, will be held Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Lafferty funeral home in charge of Rev. Ralph Stoll assisted by Revs. Elmer Horner and Eugene Slep. Further services will be held at 2.30 o'clock in the Fishertown Reformed church.
