KISSELL Pleasant Valley Veteran Expires William E. Kissell, age 75 years, of 808 Pleasant Valley Blvd, a retired Pennsylvania railroad locomotive engineer with fifty-two years' service, died at 3:20 a.m. today in his home after an extended illness. Mr. Kissell was a lifelong resident of Altoona, being born in Collinsville, the Pleasant Valley District. He was the recipient of the fifty year Gold Pin from Pennsylvania R.R., on April 1, 1933. With Mrs. Kissell he celebrated his golden anniversary on January 29th, 1940. William Elmer Kissell was born September 14 1867, a son of John and Susan (Walton) Kissell. He entered the Railroad service on April 1, 1883, in the shops, then switched to a fireman position. He was promoted to engineer in 1892, retiring as a locomotive engineer in the yard on June 1, 1935, with a record of fifty-two years and one month. Surviving are the widow and three children: Mrs. Arch Heisler, Mrs. Thomas Bradfield, both of Altoona, and son John E. Kissell, Lakemont. There are eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Also three sisters: Mrs. Louis Kauffman, Mrs. Clara Slick and Mrs. Elsie Miller and one brother, Clyde K. Kissell, all of Altoona. Mr. Kissell was a member of the Full Gospel Church at Pleasant Valley Blvd. and Eighth Street, the Men's Bible class, the brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, and the Pennsylvania Railroad Relief and the Odds Fellows. Friends will be received at the late home after 7 p.m. this evening. Interment, Oak Ridge Cemetery.
