As the train was coming from Pittsburg, bearing those who came here to attend the ceremonies at the catholic churches, Mr. Cline was standing at the switches near the upper round-house, and thinking he might take a short ride to the Logan House depot, he attempted to get on the front platform of the passenger car next to the last, but in doing so he made a misstep, and was thrown beneath the cars, the wheels of which mangled his head, body and limbs in a frightful manger, cutting one leg entirely off below the knee. The body was taken care of by the railroad company until its friends had been apprised of the accident, who came and took it to the residence of his brother on Eighth avenue. The deceased was a young man of about twenty-five years of age, a former resident of Carlisle, Pa., and was regarded as an upright young man. He has two brothers living in this city. It may not seem right whilst we are speaking of the above sad affair, to say that it is another warning to those who jump on trains when in motion, but no fitter time ever presents itself than when some unfortunate man or boy illustrates the extreme positive danger of so doing, as in the above case.
