KNOTT DIES AT HIS HOME IN THIS CITY FROM APOPLEXY. At 11.50 o'clock yesterday morning John D. Knott, for many years a watchman at the Pennsylvania railroad shop gate at Margaret avenue and Sixteenth street, died at his home, 2326 Third avenue, of apoplexy. He was stricken at Seventh avenue and Nineteenth street, while on his way to work Tuesday morning. He fell in front of the street car track sweeper and narrowly escaped being crushed beneath the wheels. After receiving medical attention he was taken to his home, and since then continued to sink until he passed away. Deceased was born in Germany and was 64 years of age. He came to American in 1878 and since then had resided in this city. He is survived by his wife and these children: Frank X., Charles A., Mrs. Adam Weamer and Mrs. Caroline Flungenhofer, of this city, and a daughter in Germany. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church and the Bavarian society. The funeral will leave the house at 8.30 o'clock tomorrow morning and proceed to St. Mary's church, where mass will be conducted at 9 o'clock. Interment in St. Mary's cemetery.
