Another Veteran Joins the Great Army Beyond. Henry Calvin Koon, after a prolonged and severe illness from a complication of diseases, died at the home of Mrs. Abednego Grazier, on West Fifteenth street, at 4.20 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Koon, who had been residing in Pittsburg for about a year past, came to Tyrone on January 16 since which time he had been in constantly declining health, his illness finally culminating in death at the hour stated. The deceased was born at Frankstown, Blair county, and at death was aged 52 years, 4 months and 2 days. In his early life he removed with his parents to Bald Eagle where he was residing when the civil war created the call for troops to sustain the government. Mr. Koon was early in the ranks and he was famous as a brave soldier, serving first in the One Hundred and Tenth Pennsylvania Infantry, and afterward in the Sixth United States Cavalry. During his service in the army he participated in a large number of engagements and was found ready and willing to respond to every call of duty. On his return from the army to Bald Eagle, in the spring of 1865, he was united in marriage to Miss Amanda Ginter. After a residence of three years at Bald Eagle, Mr. and Mrs. Koon came to Tyrone, but later removed from this place, returning however in 1884 since which time they had resided her until about a year ago when they went to Pittsburg. As stated above they returned to Tyrone about two and a half months ago. Surviving the deceased are his wife and one daughter, Mrs. McMullen, of Pittsburg; also four sisters and one brother, George Koon, of Osceola; Mrs. William Shannon, of Houtzdale; Mrs. David Lewis, of Hickory Bottom; Mrs. Lucetta Woomer, of Tyrone; and Mrs. William Bottorff, of Canton, Ohio. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. V. T. Rue, at the home of Mrs. Grazier, West Fifteenth street, at 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Burial with the honors of war will take place at Bald Eagle.
