DEATH OF AN AGED AND RESPECTED CITIZEN

  Mr. Samuel Koon, aged 76 years, 5 months, and 4 days, died at his 
residence, No. 1518 Twelfth Avenue, at half past 1 o'clock, Tuesday 
morning.  He leaves 4 sons and one daughter as follows: John, Landis, 
Samuel, Howard, and Miss Harriet.  Of these, John, Landis, Samuel, and 
Howard are married.  Mr. Koon was an old resident of Blair county and 
at one time resided near Eldorado.  About 12 years ago, he came to this 
city where he resided until his death.  His aged wife survives him.  
Mr. Koon was a life long member of the Evangelical Lutheran church and 
was a constant attendant at the First Church of this city as long as 
his health would permit.  His illness was of but short duration, he 
having been taken sick on Thursday evening last.  His ailment resisted 
the skill of physicians and the careful and loving attention given him 
by his children and he was gathered to the host which had gone on 
before.  The sympathies of the friends and neighbors of the surviving 
relatives of the deceased are extending to them in their bereavement.
