KREUZ DIED IN FRANCE, WORD RECEIVED Altoona Young Man, Member of Blair County's Gallant Company Which Made such Great Sacrifice for Humanity. Corporal John Kreuz jr., of 307 Crawford avenue, died in a base hospital in France on Sept. 28, of wounds suffered in action, according to word received by his father, John Kreuz, sr. He was a member of Company G, of the 110th regiment. No details were contained in the message received. Corporal Kreuz, who was 26 years of age, enlisted in Company G July 23 of the last year, and went with that detachment to Camp Hancock, Augusta, Ga., where he trained. He was sent to France on April 7, of this year, with the rest of the Company G boys. After a short time in France he was promoted to corporal. He participated in the big drive of the Yankees, in which Company G figured, especially at Chateau Thierry and it is though that it was during this battle that he suffered the wounds that resulted in his death in the base hospital. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Kreuz, sr., and was born in this county Aug. 23, 1892. Before enlisting in the service, he was employed in the Juniata boiler shop, where he had many friends. Corporal Kreuz was very popular among a wide circle of friends, both in Altoona and Juniata. Besides his father, he is survived by one brother, Frank Kreuz of 518 Sixth avenue, this city.
