MISS MARY KATHRYN KURTZ

77, 909 58th St., died early Friday morning, May 2, 1997, at Altoona 
Hospital, following an extended illness.  She was born March 28, 1920, 
in Baltimore, the daughter of Howard E. and Grace A. (Sharrow) Kurtz. 
Miss Kurtz was a member of the Bible Presbyterian Church, Collingswood, 
N.J., and its Women's Missionary Society.  She was also a member of the 
Women's Auxiliary of Faith Theological Seminary.  She retired as a 
reading specialist from Wright Elementary School after 40 years in the 
teaching profession.  Miss Kurtz was a 1937 graduate of Altoona High 
School, a 1941 graduate of Juniata College and received a master's 
degree in education from Penn State University.  Surviving are several 
cousins.  Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday 
at Daniel R. Myers Funeral Home. 
 
KURTZ - Funeral services for Mary Kathryn Kurtz of 909 58th St. will be 
held at 11 a.m. Monday at Daniel R. Myers Funeral Home by the Rev. Dr. 
Carl McIntire. Interment at Alto-Reste Park.  Friends ill be received 
from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
