Kyper, who practiced the medical profession is Altoona since 1911, with the exception of three years which he spent with the British and American armies in France and Germany during and after the World war, and one year in Tyrone, died at 8:40 o'clock Monday morning in the Altoona hospital. Death followed ten weeks illness. Deceased was born in Bellwood on January 19, 1888, and was a son of C. W. and Abbie (Ramey) Kyper, both deceased. He graduated from the Bellwood High school in 1905 and four years later received his diploma from the school of medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Following his graduation from the university in Philadelphia, Dr. Kyper went to Williamsport, where he served as an intern in a hospital there for one year. He took up the practice of medicine in Tyrone and after spending one year here removed to Altoona where he had since been located. Dr. Kyper saw extensive service with the American expeditionary forces during the World war, he having enlisted in Altoona on July 26, 1917. He was assigned to duty with the British armies in France and after about one year with these forces was transferred to duty with the American armies. Dr. Kyper's army service continued with the army of occupation in Germany until he was discharged, on May 26, 1919. During the last year of his enlistment, he received the commission of captain. Following his return from the World war service, he received the appointment of first lieutenant in the Pennsylvania National Guard and served in this capacity for a number of years. He had lately maintained offices in the Myers building, Twelfth avenue and Twelfth street, in Altoona. He was located for many years on Chestnut avenue and for a short time also practiced his profession in Bellwood. Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Alice A. Kyper, and one sister, Mrs. Maude Stevens of 508 Third street, Bellwood. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran church in Altoona. Tyrone Daily Herald, Tyrone, Pa., July 5, 1928, page 7
