HENRY LAFFERTY Mr. Henry Lafferty, a highly esteemed old gentleman, died at ten minutes past 9 o'clock last evening at the residence of his son-in- law, Mr. E. B. Snow, corner of Ninth avenue and Fourteenth street. Mr. Lafferty was born in Trough Creek Valley, Huntingdon county, April 7, 1813. He learned the trade of a shoemaker, which occupation he followed until almost two years ago, when his health began to fail. When quite young he located in Hollidaysburg, where he married Miss Mary Haller, who survives him. In 1870 he brought his family to this city, where he lived ever since. His children are Isaac, William, David, Amanda, wife of Mr. John Fields, and Emma, wife, of E. B. Snow. Mr. Lafferty was a kindly old gentleman, and was a good husband and father. He enjoyed a wide acquaintance and was universally respected. The funeral will take place to-morrow afternoon. the exact hour will be announced to-morrow. His death occurred at his own residence, corner of Ninth avenue and Tenth street, from whence the funeral will take place at 2 o'clock this afternoon. To the long list of the names of those of our citizens who having passed the allotted three score and ten, and who, full of years, have passed over to the ranks of the majority, must be added this morning the name of Henry Lafferty, who died at the residence of his son-in- law, Edward B. Snow, 818 Fourteenth street, at ten minutes past 9 o'clock Sunday night. The cause of death was gangrene, and he had been ill for two years. Mr. Lafferty was aged 73 years, 7 months and 25 days, having been born in Trough Creek valley, Huntingdon county, April 7, 1813. Learning the trade of a shoemaker he removed to Hollidaysburg where he lived for many years, and where he was married to Miss Mary Haller, who survives him. In 1870 Mr. Lafferty came to Altoona, and in this city, until two years ago, worked at his trade. On account of his declining health he was then forced to quit work. Beside his wife he leaves three sons and two daughters, all of whom reside in this city. They are Isaac, William and David Lafferty, Amanda, wife of John Fields, and Emma, wife of Edward B. Snow.
