Laird Injured Near Bellwood on Friday Died at the Hospital. At the hospital yesterday at 8.40 a.m. George B. Laird, who was injured so badly at Laird station near Bellwood last Friday in trying to board a freight train that both his legs had to be amputated, died of exhaustion and weakness resulting from his injury and from the subsequent operation. The most powerful stimulants were used when it became evident that he was sinking but it was without avail. The deceased was born in Bald Eagle Valley and was 17 years old. He lived most of his life with his uncle T. W. McCauley, one mile from Bellwood. Besides his father, W. H. Laird, of Tyrone township, he is survived by three brothers. He was a member of the United Brethren church at Bellwood and was a trustworthy and well behaved young man. The remains were viewed by the coroner at the hospital, but it was not thought necessary to hold an inquest. The body was placed in charge of Undertakers Hickey & O'Neil, who prepared it for burial and sent it to Bellwood last evening on day express. The funeral will take place to-morrow afternoon; interment in the Logan Valley cemetery. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Wednesday, August 16, 1899 BELLWOOD BRIEFS. The funeral of George B.
