Our correspondent "Decatur" writes to us under date of to-day as follows: About nine o'clock on Thursday evening, a son of Mr. Milton Lane, colored, aged about seven years, took suddenly very ill, soon after falling into spasms, and about twelve o'clock death ended his sufferings. On the morning following, at the request of Mr. Lane, Coroner Jones summoned a jury, consisting of Messrs. Keigel, Ramsey, Burley, Marks, Graffius and Burgess McLanahan, and proceeded to hold an inquest. The jury rendered a verdict that deceased came to his death by natural or unknown causes. The father and mother, when on oath before the jury, denied having so unmercifully treated the child, as had been alleged, but be that as it may, many of our citizens believe that had there been a post mortem examination held, a different verdict might have been rendered.
