Lathero, ex-constable, of the Second Ward, well known all over the city, died at the Altoona hospital at 8.20 yesterday morning of euremia, superinduced by pneumonia. He had not been in good health recently, but had been seriously ill only since last Tuesday. He was taken to the Altoona hospital on Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Mr. Lathero was born on September 29, 1877, in this city, and was the son of Albert K. and Virginia W. Lathero who live at 921 Green avenue. He attended Trinity Reformed church, and was a member of the Red Men and Modern Woodmen of America. The survivors are his parents, his wife, Sophia; an adopted daughter, Ethel, and two brothers, and two sisters - W. J. and J. O., Mrs. W. H. Kauffman and Daisy M., all of this city. Mr. Lathero served the people of the Second ward as constable for one term, and had an enviable record in this capacity. He started his term by a general clean-out of the ward and, although he was small in stature, he had the reputation of not being afraid to look after any of the duties that fell in his line as a protector of the public peace. He was genial, and had scores of friends all over the ward. He strictly attended to his work at all times. Recently he moved from Second ward to the Seventh. The body has been taken to the home of the parents, on Green avenue, and can be viewed there from 7 to 10.30 this evening. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 2.30 with services at the house. Interment in Rose Hill cemetery. March 25, 1912 clipping
