From what we could learn he and his wife, whom he had married but recently, had been visiting some friends living a short distance above town, and on their return home, they met a freight train, and stepped on the south track to let it pass. The mail train East coming up behind them, which it is supposed they did not see, struck Mr. Lavy, knocking him off the track. He was brought to the station, where he immediately expired. The subject of this sad misfortune was a peaceable and industrious citizen, some fifty years of age. His lady escaped uninjured.
