At 3.30 o'clock Sunday morning Mrs. Martha Leader, wife of William H. Leader, deceased, died at her home, 408 Tenth street, of apoplexy. Since the death of her husband four years ago her health had been slowly failing. Last May she was stricken with a stroke of apoplexy and three months later with another. On Thursday, March 4, she suffered a stroke which left her unconscious. She never recovered consciousness and continued to sink until she passed into the great beyond. The deceased's maiden name was Martha Dobbs, and she was born in Chippingonger [Chipping Ongar], Essex county, Eng., February 6, 1835. She was married forty-eight years ago at Hollidaysburg. She came to this city forty-one years ago with her husband and had resided here since. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal church all her life, and was a devout Christian woman. She was beloved by her neighbors and a host of friends. She is survived by these children: A. W., James S., Thomas D., Edward E., Charles W., Miss Mary C. and Miss Bessie G., all of Altoona. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. James R. Bigham, of this city, and Mrs. John Suckling, of Hollidaysburg, and fourteen grandchildren. The funeral will take place Tuesday afternoon; services at the house at 3 o'clock by Rev. A. S. Woodle. Interment in Oak Ridge cemetery. Morning Tribune, Monday, March 12, 1900
