Mrs. Ellen Lewis, widow of Samuel Lewis, of Dix station, died at midnight, Wednesday, November 2, at the home of her son, Robert, at Philipsburg, where she had been visiting about a week. She was afflicted with congestion of the lungs and had been ill only a few days. Mrs. Lewis is survived by four daughters and seven sons, all of whom, with the exception of one, were at her bedside. The children are: Mrs. H. R. Woomer, of Olivia; Mrs. T. M. Richards, of Julian; Mrs. Andrew Friday, of Tyrone; Mrs. H. H. Ganoe, of Clearfield; William, Joseph and Wilson, of Tyrone; Henry, of Dix station, with whom the deceased made her home; Sanford, of Clearfield; Samuel of Jersey Shore, and Robert, of Philipsburg. She has also one brother living, W. B. Beamer, Esq., of Gearhartville. Her husband died on February 28, 1897. The deceased was aged 75 years, and had she lived until November 12 she would have survived another birthday anniversary. She had been a consistent member of the M. E. church for a number of years. She was a lady beloved by all who knew her and will be very much missed by a large circle of friends as well as her relatives. The remains were brought to Dix station Thursday evening and the funeral services will be held at the Olivia Methodist church at 10 o'clock Saturday morning, Rev. J. B. Durkee officiating.
