MARY ANN LEWIS, Wife of Joseph Lewis died Saturday morning at 7.40 o'clock at the family home on Seventeenth street, from carcinoma, from which she had suffered for several years. Her maiden name was McMonigal, a daughter of John and Nancy McMonigal of near Port Matilda. In 1882 she was married to Joseph Lewis and has ever since been a resident of Tyrone. He age at death was 54 years. Mrs. Lewis was a Christian woman and a good, kind neighbor and a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church since she was a young woman. She is survived by her husband, her parents and the following children: Mrs. William Reel of Tyrone; Mrs. Edgar Stouffer of Huntingdon; and Mrs. Charles Parsons, of Altoona.* These brothers and sisters also survive: Rankin, Daniel and Thomas McMonigal, of Hannah Furnace and Mrs. Samuel Cowher of Tyrone. Funeral services this afternoon at 1.30 o'clock in Columbia avenue church by the Rev. C. W. Kane and interment in Grand View cemetery. Altoona Mirror, Monday, September 16, 1912 *Mabel (Lewis) Parsons, wife of Charles Stephen Parsons, was the daughter of John and Emma Florence (Woomer) Lewis, both of whom had died by the time she was three years old. She was raised by her uncle Joseph and aunt Mary Lewis. Her siblings, Oscar and Amber Lewis, lived with their grandparents, Joseph and Anna Woomer, in Snyder Township, after the death of their parents.
