All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ THOMAS LEWIS Thomas Lewis, Spanish American war veteran and for the past 25 years a resident of this city, died yesterday morning at 2:05 o'clock of hemorrhages following the influenza, at the residence of Mrs. E. L. Calhoon, 1217 Fifteenth avenue with whom he made his home. He was born in England and was aged about 43 years old. He served in the British army, coming to this country when a young man. He served two enlistments in the American army, and during the Spanish war was a member of Company K, 3rd regiment, R. I. volunteers. At the time of his death, he was employed in the munition works at Mt. Union, but had unsuccessfully tried to enlist in the war with Germany. He is survived by five sisters and one brother, William, all of Hill Grove, R.I. One daughter, Mrs. Morrison of Manchester, England, also survives. He was a member of the local Sphinx. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon with services at the Gilden funeral parlors at 2:30 o'clock. Interment will be made in Greenwood cemetery.
