Leyder of 2104 Twentieth avenue, a prominent Pennsy engineer, died at the Altoona hospital yesterday morning, death being caused by typhoid fever. He was born on March 23, 1893, at Van Dyke, Juniata county, the son of S. P. Leyder, of Thompsontown and Mrs. Kate Leyder, deceased, and was married in Altoona on Jan. 9, 1915, to Miss Mary Warner of this city. He was employed by the Pennsy for several years. Surviving are the father, the widow and one son, James Elwood, aged 9 months, and the following brothers and sisters: J. K. Lyder [sic] of Thompsontown, Mrs. C. O. Shaffer of Highspire, O.; Ross Leyder of Parshall, N.D., Mrs. Emma Stover of Mifflintown and Stewart Leyder of Van Dyke. He was a member of the Lutheran church of Van Dyke, the Brotherhood of L.F. and E., the relief and the P.O.S. of A. Short funeral services will be held on Saturday evening at 8 o'clock at the home of his father-in-law, F. J. Warner, at 408 Tenth street, in charge of Rev. David M. Lockard of the Grace Reformed church. Interment will be made Sunday at Thompsontown. Altoona Times, Friday Morning, October 4, 1918 FUNERAL NOTICE. Funeral services will be held at 408-10 South Altoona on Saturday evening at 8 o'clock for our late Brother Elmer Leyder, funeral will leave on train No. 664 at 10.15 a.m. Sunday morning for Thompsontown.
