Light, 55, of Madera RD, formerly of Tyrone, died Thursday morning, March 17, 1988 at Philipsburg State General Hospital. He was born Oct. 24, 1932 at Tyrone, the son of Jesse and Love Kennedy Light. On May 22, 1973, he was married to Dorothy Mann. He is survived by his wife: his mother, Love Light of Tyrone: two sons and four daughters, Melvin Eugene Light Jr., of Bald Eagle; Mrs. Ralph (Sylvia Kay) Leach, of West Germany; Mrs. Steve (Darlene Ann) Chew of Tyrone; Mrs. Pete (Susan Rene) Leach of Tyrone; Mrs. Dennis (Deborah Jean) Stouffer, Ohio; and Wilson James Light of Indiana; three step-sons and two step- daughters, Melvin Kerr, of Madera: Mrs. Charles (Linda ) Spencer of Beccaria; Myrl Kerr and Richard Kerr, both of Houtzdale; and Mrs. Irvin (Dolores) Burton of Ramey; 13 grandchildren, 21 step-grand-children, 23 step-great grandchildren; four brothers and two sisters. Robert Light of Sandy Ridge; Leonard Light and Mrs. Earl (Pauline) McKinney, both of Tyrone; Mrs. Bill (Miriam) Hall of Alexandria; William Light of West Palm Beach,. Fla.; and Charles Light of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, one step-daughter. Sara; one brother. Paul; one grandchild, and one step-grandchild and one step-great grandchild. He was a member of the Parsonville Assembly of God Church and a life member of the Disabled Veterans of Altoona. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict and had worked as a diesel mechanic and truck driver. He retired in 1970 from Light Trucking, which he owned and operated. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Shoff-Kruise Funeral Home, Madera, with the Rev. James C. Grove officiating. Interment will be at Baughman Cemetery, Tyrone RD. Friends will be received at the funeral home today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
