P. Lightner, died at 5:05 o'clock last evening at her home, 1116 Sixth avenue, of gastric fever, following an illness extending over a period of two weeks. She was widely known, highly esteemed and possessed scores of friends throughout Central Pennsylvania. Mrs. Lightner was the daughter of James and Rachel Heller Van Zandt, both deceased, and was born at Huntingdon on October 26, 1860. She was educated and reared in Huntingdon. On March 19, 1878, she was united in marriage to W. P. Lightner, of Mill Creek. She had resided in this city for the past thirty-six years. Her husband, who was an assistant yardmaster for the Pennsy, died two years ago. Mrs. Lightner was a faithful and consistent member of the Second United Brethren church, this city; Doreen lodge, No. 318, D. of R.; Camp No. 49, P.O. of A.; Ladies Circle, No. 16. G. A. R., the Mercy hospital, the P. R. R. Y. M. C. A., and United lodge, No. 174, B. R. T. auxiliaries, as well as the Optimists' Bible class of the Second United Brethren Sunday school.. Four children survive, as follows: Mrs. Myrtle Kinsell, Mrs. Bertha Hall, Clarence V. Lightner, all of this city, and W. P. Lightner, jr., of Juniata, as well as two grandchildren: Miss Isabel Kinsell, and Leo Lightner, who resided with the deceased. These brothers and one sister survive: Warren S. Van Zandt, of Juniata; James, of Lancaster, and Mrs. Bessie Ramsey, of Savannah, Ga., as well as one half-brother, Marshall Van Zandt, and a half-sister, Mrs. Ada Rhoades, both of this city. Funeral services will occur from the Second United Brethren church at 2:30 o'clock on Tuesday afternoon, followed by interment in Rose Hill cemetery.
