All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ MILLER LINDSAY Died at his home in Roaring Spring at 11 o'clock yesterday morning of Bright's disease. The deceased was born in Huntingdon county, May 25, 1825, where he spent his youth. He afterwards located at St. Clairsville, Bedford county, where he learned the trade of cabinet maker. He then married Miss Caroline Miller and afterward moved to Mudtown, now Collinsville, near Altoona, and cleared the ground and built the first house on the Dry Gap road, now Washington avenue, where he resided for a number of years and worked for the Pennsylvania railroad company as a car builder. He afterwards was engaged in the general merchandise business in Mudtown. He served nine months in the civil war, in Company C, Two Hundred and Fifth regiment, Pennsylvania volunteers, and was a member of H. C. Lower post, Grand Army of the Republic, of Roaring Spring, and for many years was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. From Altoona he moved to Leamersville, where he resided until about eighteen months ago, when he and his wife went to Roaring Spring, with his son, Ira, with whom they resided at the time of his death. To his first wife seven children were born, three of whom are living Mrs. P. S. Hart, of Altoona, W. D. Lindsey of Everson, Pa., and I. W. Lindsey of this place. One sister Mrs. Rachel Hare of Enterprise, Kan. and his second wife, who was Miss Susan Lingenfelter also survive him. The funeral will take place on Friday morning next and services will be conducted at his late home on East Main street, by Rev. L. S. Hefner assisted by Rev. J. H. Price and Rev. Dr. C. E. Kellen. The remains will be brought to Altoona on the 11:20 train and interred in Fairview cemetery. Altoona Mirror, Altoona, Pa., September 20, 1906
