A week ago yesterday the boy, who resided at the home of his grandfather, Wesley Dibert, was playing with several chums and climbed an apple tree. While descending he fell a distance of five feet, alighting on his right side with his arm beneath. His forearm was fractured, a piece of the bone protruding through the flesh. He was rushed to the Altoona hospital where an X-ray photo disclosed a serious compound fracture. This was set and it looked as though the injury was healing nicely. However, within a few days the dead gas germ? originated and the arm started to swell and become infected. Everything known to medical science was done to save the boy's life, but the infection, which spreads rapidly, had entered his system and even the amputation of the arm would have been of no avail. The arm was lanced . . . times by the physicians with . . . of killing the poison, and . . . the gas had formed to . . . it was useless. The boy was born at Claysburg . . . 22, 1906 and spent his entire life at that place. He attended the [public] schools of Claysburg. The remains were turned over to . . . Roher and Mauk, Juniata, for preparation for burial. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in the Reformed Church at ---burg and burial will be made in the church cemetery.
