Their obituaries are listed first, and those of the family follow in alphabetical order. AUGUSTINE M. LITZINGER Augustine M. Litzinger, 75, of Altoona, a native of Patton, died in Mercy Hospital, Altoona, Tuesday night of injuries received when he was thrown from the automobile driven by his son John W. Litzinger, when it overturned Sunday night. He received a skull fracture and a crushed chest in the accident. He was born in Patton Feb 2, 1870. His wife, Amelia (Oswald) Litzinger is deceased. Surviving are the following sons and daughters, Leonard, Catherine, Mrs. Delores Wolf and John, all of the city, Mrs. Madeline Criswell of Hollidaysburg, Edward of Carlisle, Mrs. Beatrice Neason of Washington D.C., Mrs. Helen Outcalt of Stewart, Fla., and Sgt. William J. Litzinger of the army. Thirteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Anna Burns of Johnstown, also survive. Mr. Litzinger was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church. Funeral services will be held in Altoona. Friends will be received in the V.L. Stevens Funeral Home of that city. Altoona Mirror, May 28, 1946 __________________________________________________________________ AMELIA (OSWALD) LITZINGER Mrs. Amelia Litzinger, wife of August M. Litzinger, of 100 Fourth street, died at a local hospital yesterday at 4 p.m. of diabetes. She was born in this city, November 22, 1878 and is survived by her husband and the following children: Howard, Leonard, Catherine, John, Madeline, Beatrice, Edward, Helen, Willis and Dolores, all of this city. She was a member of St. Mark's Catholic church, branch 1201, L.C.B.A. St. Mark's Guild and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Young Men's Institute. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at St. Mark's church. Burial will be made in Calvary cemetery. Note: d/o Jacob & Elizabeth (HUBER) OSWALD. (LITZINGER) CRISWELL Of 8721, Imperial Highway, Downey, Calif., a native of Altoona, died Thursday, Jan 23, 1975. Mrs. Criswell was superintendent of an apartment complex in Downey. She was born March 8, 1909, a daughter of Augustine M. and Amelia (Oswald) Litzinger, and married Stewart S. Criswell on June 25, 1927. Mr. Criswell preceded her in death. Surviving are a son, Harry, two grandchildren, three great- grandchildren, and four brothers and sisters, Leonard of Altoona, Mrs. Bea Neason of Washington, D.C., and William J. and Mrs. Delores Scott of Lompoc, Calif. Interment was made in Los Angeles, Calif. Altoona Mirror, January 28, 1975 __________________________________________________________________ CATHERINE ELIZABETH LITZINGER Of 14018 Bellflower Blvd, Bellflower, Calif., a native of Altoona, died Jan 17, 1975. She was employed by Independent Oil Co. in Altoona and later by Crane & Co. Los Angeles, Calif. She retired from Crane with 15 years' service. She was born March 17, 1905, a daughter of Augustine M. and Amelia R. (Oswald) Litzinger. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Cyril Gority of Los Angeles; five brothers and sisters, Leonard of Altoona, Mrs. Bea Nelson of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Madeline Criswell of Downey, Calif., and William J. and Mrs. Delores Scott of Lompoc, Calif. While in Altoona she was a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament and Eugene A. Garvey Court, Catholic daughters of America. Interment was made in Los Angeles. LITZINGER A native of Altoona, formerly of Harrisburg, died in Madrid, Spain, on April 21, in the United States air force infirmary. Mrs. Litzinger was a civil service employe of the department of the United States air force, in the capacity of supervisory general supply officer in the Madrid air material area. He previously had been employed for 15 years at the Olmsted air force base in Middletown. He was born July 7, 1912, the son of Augustine and Amelia Litzinger. He leaves the following brothers and sisters: Leonard, Catherine, and John of Altoona, Mrs. Stewart Criswell of Hollidaysburg, Mrs. Raymond Neason of Washington, D.C., William of Lompoc, Calif. and Mrs. Eugene Wolf of Los Angeles, Calif. Mr. Litzinger will repose at the V. L. Stevens funeral home after 6 p.m. Sunday. Note: Clipping. Died Apri 21, 1942 __________________________________________________________________ JOHN WILLIAM LITZINGER Of 310 3rd Ave, died at 4 a.m. today in the Altoona hospital, after a brief illness. He was born April 27, 1907, in Altoona, a son of Augustine M. and Amelia (Oswalt) Litzinger. Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret Mauk; a son, Lt. Richard, serving with the Navy in Guam; three grandchildren, two brothers and four sisters, Leonard F. of Altoona, William J. of Lompoc, Calif., Miss Catherine of Bellflower, Calif., Mrs. Madeline Crisswell of Lynwood, Calif., Mrs. Beatrice Neason of Washington D.C., and Mrs. Delores Wolf of Los Angeles, Calif. Mr. Litzinger retired in 1961 as a welder for the Pennsylvania railroad, after 38 years' service. He was a member of St. Mark's Catholic church and Holy Name Society, of the Frohsinn singing Society and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. LITZINGER Mr. Litzinger, 85, of Box 810, RD 5, died at 4:45 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 1989, at Altoona Hospital, after a brief illness. Mr. Litzinger retired as a conductor from the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1969 after 40 years' service. He was born March 16, 1903, in Altoona, the son of Augustine M. and Amelia R. (Oswald) Litzinger, and Dec 17, 1937, in Altoona, married Margaret E. Cromer, who died Oct 18, 1984. Surviving are three children: Dorothy Cupples, Marva L. Stacey and James of Altoona: a stepson, Merrill E. Smith of Altoona: 14 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren. Mr. Litzinger was a member of the Simpson-Temple United Parish. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Carn-Lynch Funeral Home. Services by Rev. Morton P. (CROMER) LITZINGER Mrs. Litzinger, 83, a resident of Garvey Manor, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Box 810 RD 5, died at 10:40 a.m. Thursday, Oct 18, 1984, in the manor, after a brief illness. She was born July 22, 1901, in Altoona, the daughter of William and Sarah (Claybaugh) Cromer, and was twice married, first to Alfred Smith, who preceded her in death, then on Dec 17, 1937, in Altoona to Leonard F. Litzinger. Surviving are her husband, three children: Alfred Smith Jr., Merrill Smith and Marva Stacey of Altoona: five grandchildren and a great-grandson. Also surviving is a sister, Bella Heffernan of Middletown. Mrs. Litzinger was a member of the Simpson-Temple Parish. She was a member of the Altaire Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. Altoona Mirror, October 18, 1984 __________________________________________________________________ WILLIAM J. LITZINGER Funeral services for William J. Litzinger, 62, were held at 2 p.m. today at the Starbuck Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Father Richard Miskella officiating. Burial followed at Lompoc Evergreen cemetery where full military honors were accorded. Mr. Litzinger was born March 3, 1916 in Altoona, Pennsylvania and died Friday at Lompoc District hospital following a sudden illness. A resident since 1953, he last lived at 1501 W. Cherry Ave. He was retired United States Army after 23 years of service and was a member of American Legion Post 211 and charter member of the Lompoc Elks Lodge 2274. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, of home address, a son, William A. Litzinger of Oxnard, a daughter Karen Ann Litzinger of South Lake Tahoe, a brother Leonard Litzinger of Pennsylvania, two sisters, Beatrice Neason of Washington D.C. and Delores Pawlowski of Lompoc, and a grandson William Litzinger of Buellton. Died January 5, 1979 __________________________________________________________________ HELEN (LITZINGER) OUTCALT CRASH FATAL TO MOTHER AND SMALL CHILD Special to the Altoona Mirror. HAMLETT, N.C. June 8, - Mrs. Helen (Litzinger) Outcalt of Stuart, Fla., a former resident of Altoona, was killed and her daughter, Bernadette, aged 8 months, fatally injured, dying last night, in an automobile accident near here on Wednesday. Her husband and son were slightly injured. The members of the Outcalt family were returning to Florida from Altoona where they had attended the funeral of Mrs. Outcalt's father, Augustine M. Litzinger, who died on May 27, in an Altoona hospital after being fatally injured when his son's car ran out of control and turned over near Altoona. Because of engine trouble they had been delayed on their way to Altoona and arrived there just a few minutes before the funeral service for Mr. Litzinger. Before starting on the return trip to Florida the car was repaired. Details of the manner of the accident that cost the lives of Mrs. Outcalt and Bernadette are not available. ---- Native of Altoona Mrs. Helen Outcalt was born in Altoona on March 31, 1914, the daughter of Augustine M. and Amelia (Oswald) Litzinger, both deceased. Members of the family include her husband, son Donald Jr., these brothers and sisters: Leonard, Catherine, Mrs. Delores Wolf and John all of Altoona, Mrs. Madline Criswell of Hollidaysburg, Edward of Carlisle PA, Mrs. Beatrice Neason of Washington D.C. and Sgt William J. Litzinger of the army. The body is being sent to Altoona today to the Vincent L. Stevens funeral home where friends will be received after 7 o'clock Sunday evening. Altoona Mirror, June 8, 1946 __________________________________________________________________ DELORES MARIE (LITZINGER) PAWLOWSKI Delores Marie Pawlowski, age 70, died Feb. 15, 1989 at Cottage Hospital, in Santa Barbara. Services were Feb. 18 in Starbuck-Lind Chapel with burial at Lompoc Cemetery. She was born in Altoona, PA 16 Aug.1918. Survivors included husband Raymond; daughter Carol Caldwell, of Redding; sons Thomas Wolf of Livermore, and Donald Wolf of Monrovia, and brother, Leonard Litzinger, of Altoona. Note: Clipping.
