All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ WILLIAM MELVILLE LOCKARD, For forty-seven years employed by the Pennsylvania railroad as a moulder in the South Altoona foundries, died at 3.15 o'clock this morning at the family home, 1418 Seventeenth avenue, of a complication of diseases. He was born at Pennsylvania Furnace Feb. 16, 1856, the son of Silas and Mary (Goodfellow) Lockard and was married forty-two years ago to Miss Lilly A. Lady. He started to work for the Pennsy at the age of 17 years. Surviving are the widow and nine children, as follows: Earl, Edna, Hiram, Mrs. Rudy Malone, Mrs. S. E. Rupe, Harold, Lawrence, Esther and Melba, and three brothers, R. S., H. B., and S. M. Lockard, all of this city. He was a member of the First Lutheran church, White Cross lodge, Knights of Pythias, Knights of Khorassan, Altoona lodge, No. 473, Odd Fellows, and of the Pennsy relief. The funeral will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock at the house with services in charge of Rev. Marion Justus Kline, pastor of the First Lutheran church.
