LONGENECKER Dropped dead in Willis Hoover's grocery store, Seventh avenue and Twenty-fifth street, shortly after 9 o'clock last night. The cause of death was heart failure. He had just given Mr. Hoover an order, when he fell forward. Grasping the counter he managed to hold on a short time, but soon sank to the floor and expired five minutes later. The patrol was summoned. Nurse Andrew Peter of the hospital accompanied it. The only service possible on its arrival was to take the body to the late home of the deceased, and that was at once done. Mr. Longenecker was born in Hollidaysburg May 1, 1839. He learned the tinner's trade with Daniel Bollinger in his native town. On January 2, 1865, he married Miss Sarah Rickabaugh and took up his residence in this city, where he lived ever since. He worked in the company's tin shop and was on duty yesterday. His wife and one son, David L., survive him, as do also two sisters, Mrs. Matilda Fyler and Mrs. Sarah Delo, both of this city. The deceased was an active member of the Second Lutheran church. He was also a member of Logan lodge, Knights of Pythias. He was a good man and enjoyed the esteem and confidence of a large circle of friends and acquaintances. The funeral will take place tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon at 3:30, from the home of the deceased, 2613 Fifth avenue, to proceed to Second Lutheran church, where services will be held; interment in Fairview cemetery.
