LOUDON ILLNESS FATAL TO VETERAN OF POSTAL SERVICE William A. Loudon of 1928 Fifteenth avenue, a retired veteran of forty years service with the United States post office department, died last evening after an extended illness. He retired from the Postal service on April 30, 1942 as supervisor of the money order division of the Altoona post office. He is survived by the following eight children: Mrs. Betty Rannigan of Englewood, Calif., Robert S. Loudon of Washington, D. C., AMM 1/c Joseph P. Loudon of the Bunker Hill, Ind. Naval air station, Sgt John W. Loudon and Helen, Samuel S., Thomas A. and Frank H., all of Altoona. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Edgar E. Baird and Miss Sarah Ellen Loudon, both of Altoona, and one brother, Harry G. Loudon of Rock Island, Wash. Ten grandchildren also survive. Mr. Loudon was born in Altoona, April 13, 1872, the son of David M. and Mary Elizabeth (Shinafelt) Loudon. He married on Feb. 19, 1901 to Juanita R. Sisler who died May 23, 1943. Mr. Loudon was appointed regular clerk in the post office July 1, 1902. He was promoted to foreman of the money order, postal savings and war bond and stamp division July 1, 1920. He also served as local secretary of the civil service board examiners for seventeen years. He was a member of the First Lutheran church and the Henry Baker Bible class of the church; also of Hiram lodge, No. 616m F&AM; Logan lodge, No 79, Knights of Pythlas; and the United National Association of Post Office Clerks.
