Lowther, 411 South Fifth St., Altoona, formerly of Bellwood died at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday at his home after an extended illness. He was born in Altoona on June 24, 1872, a son of James and Susan Wible Lowther, and married Susan E. Reiley. Surviving are the widow, two daughters: Miss Mary Lowther at home, and Mrs. Katherine Backsler, Palmyra, N.Y. and five grandchildren. He was a member of the First Methodist Church and Win-A- Fellow Bible Class, an honorary steward; he had been active in the Bellwood Methodist Church, where he served as teacher of the Men's Bible Class and financial secretary for many years. He was a past member of Tyrone Lodge, F & A M; a member of the Mountain Royal Arch Chapter, Mountain Commandery; Knights Templar; Jaffa Shrine Temple, and the Modern Woodmen of America. He was a retired banker, having been cashier of the Bellwood Bank and later secretary-treasurer of Bellwood Trust Company. He was a former member of the Bellwood School Board. Friends may call at the Lafferty Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today. Funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Clyde E.
