LUCAS [photo] Brief Illness Is Fatal to Tyrone Woman Mrs. Margaret C. Lucas of Tyrone, widow of Samuel L. Lucas, died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Miles F. Mattern of Youngstown, O., at 2.25 o'clock Saturday afternoon after several weeks of illness. She was born March 27, 1862, in Milesburg, a daughter of Miles and Nancy (Watson) Poorman, and was married there Sept. 14, 1882, to Samuel L. Lucas, who died April 28 of this year. Mr. and Mrs. Lucas celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last September. They moved to Tyrone three years ago from Warriors Mark where they resided for 45 years. Surviving are two sons and three daughters, William M. Lucas of Williamsport, Toner J. of Altoona, Mrs. Eugene McCurdy of Hollidaysburg, Mrs. Mattern of Youngstown, and Mrs. George Deeters of Petersburg, O.; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Ms. Lucas was a member of the First Methodist church of Tyrone. Friends are being received at the Glass funeral home, Tyrone. Altoona Mirror, Monday, July 12, 1948, page 22
