Lupfer, prominent citizen of Bellwood, died of a gunshot wound, self-inflicted, at his home, 602 South Fifth street, Bellwood, at 9:14 p.m. Sunday. He suffered the wound at 8:15. Mr. Lupfer had been in serious condition for some time, but was able to be out and in his store most of the time. He was at Grace Lutheran church yesterday, and had not seemed worse than usual. Mr. Lupfer was a native of Perry county, born in 1869. He came to Bellwood 42 years ago, as a clerk in Ira Wentzel's store. Later, in partnership with Miles Bower, he took over the store. Mr. Bower retired about three years ago, leaving Mr. Lupfer proprietor of the largest general store in Bellwood. Tyrone Daily Herald, Tyrone, Pa., January 4, 1932
