Yesterday morning at 6 o'clock, at her mother's residence, No. 305 Railroad street, Mrs. Lilly Mertilla Lykens passed from time to eternity, after months of weary suffering. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Manning, the former having been employed for a number of years at Tyrone Forges. He was also a First Lieutenant of Company H, One-Hundred-and-Tenth Pennsylvania Volunteers, and was killed May 3, 1864, at the battle of the Wilderness. Mrs. Lykens was a sufferer from cancer, and some few months ago was operated on for its removal by Dr. Findley. But the ravages of the disease had left her in an emaciated condition, from which she never rallied, and she sank gradually until death, that grim monster, claimed her as his own. She had many friends, all of whom will feel sad at her departure. She was born June 8, 1856, being 29 years, 4 months and 6 days old at the time of her death. She was a niece of our fellow townsman, Mr. C. W. Dougherty. She will be buried some time to-morrow afternoon, the hour of which we will mention in to-morrow morning's paper.
