Madera, Civil war veteran, retired carpenter and resident of McKee, died at 9 o'clock, Tuesday night of pneumonia, at his home. He was ill a week. He was born at Claysburg, May 1, 1840, and when the Civil war arose, the veteran formed Company I, Fifty-fifth regiment, Pennsylvania volunteer infantry, and became captain. Following the war he was a carpenter and contractor. His wife died twenty-two years ago and he is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Cora Giarth and Mrs. Margaret Dively, both of this city; Mrs. Luella Myers, of Bloomfield; Mrs. Minnie Walter, residing in the western states, and Miss Musa Madera, of Johnstown. The veteran was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and Henry R. Lower post G.A.R., Roaring Spring. Funeral services will be announced later.
