Her lower limbs are affected. Her condition is serious and there is little hope for recovery. Altoona Mirror, Monday September 14, 1903 MRS. MARY MAHER, Wife of Michael Maher, of 1221 Third avenue, died at 4:20 o'clock this morning from paralysis. She had been in poor health for the past two years, but was well enough to be about until last Friday, when she was stricken with paralysis, as noted in the Mirror. She was conscious to the last. Deceased was born in Newry, this county, on January 10, 1853. She was a daughter of Cyrus and Rebecca J. Lowe. Her father was a well-known Middle division conductor and was killed December 2, 1893. Her mother resides at 1105 Seventh avenue. On November 4, 1869, she was united in marriage at Huntingdon with Michael Maher by Father Gallagher. They resided at Huntingdon until March 1887, when they came to Altoona. Besides her husband she is survived by these children: William T., of Pittsburgh; Annie R., wife of J.C. Sell, city editor of the Gazette; Julie M., Agnes, Clarence A., Mary E., Lena, Robert L., and Joseph L., all at home. She also leaves these brothers and sisters; Mrs. Martha C. Martin of Central City, Neb., William J. Lowe, of Urbana, Ill., Mrs. A. W. Maffit, Robert J., Charles L., John C., Miss Lena, all of Altoona. Deceased was a member of the Sacred Heart church. The funeral will leave the home at 8:30 Saturday morning and proceed to Sacred Heart church, where requiem high mass will be celebrated. Interment will be made in St. John's cemetery.
