All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ JOSEPH MAIZE, A well-known resident of this city, died of consumption at 6:45 o'clock last evening, at his home, 1209 Ninth avenue, after a lingering illness, the last eight weeks of which were spent in bed. The deceased was born in Huntingdon county and was 68 years old. He learned the painter's trade in Hollidaysburg and came here in 1870 and entered the service of the P.R.R. In 1855 he married Miss Annie McElroy, who survives him, together with the following five children, Mrs. Carrie Moyer, Mrs. James Foust and Misses Emma, Zella and Mattie, all of this city. The deceased served nine months in the 192nd regiment, Pennsylvania volunteers, under Captain Anderson. He was a member of Post 62, Grand Army of the Republic. He was also in the relief fund. The funeral will take place on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. L. B. Plummer of the First Baptist church, will conduct the services. Interment in Oak Ridge cemetery.
